Last updated: June 20, 2026
1. Introduction
Our website, https://milnerhouse.co.za (hereinafter: "the website") uses cookies and other related technologies (for convenience all technologies are referred to as "cookies"). Cookies are also placed by third parties we have engaged. In the document below we inform you about the use of cookies on our website.
2. What Are Cookies?
A cookie is a small simple file that is sent along with pages of this website and stored by your browser on the hard drive of your computer or another device. The information stored therein may be returned to our servers or to the servers of the relevant third parties during a subsequent visit.
3. What Are Scripts?
A script is a piece of program code that is used to make our website function properly and interactively. This code is executed on our server or on your device.
4. What Is a Web Beacon?
A web beacon (or a pixel tag) is a small, invisible piece of text or image on a website that is used to monitor traffic on a website. In order to do this, various data about you is stored using web beacons.
5. Types of Cookies We Use
5.1 Technical or Functional Cookies
Some cookies ensure that certain parts of the website work properly and that your user preferences remain known. By placing functional cookies, we make it easier for you to visit our website. This way, you do not need to repeatedly enter the same information when visiting our website.
We may place these cookies without your consent.
5.2 Statistics Cookies
We use two statistics services: Google Analytics (GA4), which counts which pages people visit and which links they use, and Microsoft Clarity, which records anonymous session replays and heatmaps showing where people click and how far they scroll. Together they tell us which pages do their job and which ones confuse people. Neither is used for advertising, and both are described in full in the list of third-party services further down this page.
We ask your permission to place statistics cookies.
5.3 Advertising Cookies
We do not use advertising cookies on this website. We run no ad campaigns through it, and we do not build a profile of your behaviour to target advertising at you, here or anywhere else. The analytics services described in 5.2 are configured with their advertising features switched off. This section is kept so the list of cookie types stays complete, and so that it would be obvious if that ever changed.
None in use, so there is nothing to consent to here.
5.4 Marketing/Tracking Cookies
Marketing/Tracking cookies are cookies or any other form of local storage, used to create user profiles to display advertising or to track the user on this website or across several websites for similar marketing purposes.
5.5 Social Media
Our website contains a link to our Facebook page. This is a simple link and does not embed Facebook content or place Facebook cookies on our website. However, once you click the link and visit Facebook, Facebook may place cookies and process your personal data on their own platform. Please read the privacy and cookie statements of Facebook (which can change regularly) to understand what they do with your personal data. Facebook is located in the United States.
6. Cookie Services We Use
Our website loads a small number of third-party services: some so the site works at all, such as the typefaces and our location map, and two that measure how the site is used so we can improve it. The measurement services are listed below alongside the rest, and neither of them runs before you accept. Nothing here is used for advertising.
Google Fonts
Loads the typefaces used across the site for a consistent look.
FunctionalFont Awesome (Cloudflare CDN)
Delivers the icons used throughout the website via a content delivery network.
FunctionalSemper (Booking Engine)
Our secure online booking and reservations platform. When you book, you are taken to Semper to complete your reservation and payment.
FunctionalMicrosoft Clarity
Records anonymous session replays — the movement of your pointer, what you click and how far you scroll — plus heatmaps showing which parts of a page get used. We watch these back to find places where the site is confusing or broken, such as a button people tap that does nothing. It loads only if you press “Accept”; press Decline, or ignore the notice, and nothing is recorded at all. Clarity masks text you type by default, so what you enter into the contact form is not captured. It sets cookies beginning _clck and _clsk that last up to one year.
Google Analytics (GA4)
Tells us which pages people visit and which links they use, so we can improve the site. It runs in consent mode: until you press “Accept” on the cookie notice it stores nothing on your device and we see only anonymous page counts. If you accept, it sets cookies beginning _ga that last up to two years and let us recognise a repeat visit. We do not use it for advertising.
Google Maps
Displays an interactive map of our location on the Contact page. Google may place cookies through this embed.
Marketing/Tracking7. Consent
When you visit our website for the first time, we will show you a pop-up with an explanation about cookies. As soon as you click on "Save preferences", you consent to us using the categories of cookies and plug-ins you selected in the pop-up, as described in this Cookie Policy.
You can disable the use of cookies via your browser, but please note that our website may no longer work properly.
8. Managing Cookies
You can use your internet browser to automatically or manually delete cookies. You can also specify that certain cookies may not be placed. Another option is to change the settings of your internet browser so that you receive a message each time a cookie is placed.
For more information about these options, please refer to the instructions in the Help section of your browser. Please note that our website may not work properly if all cookies are disabled.
